World Vision Vice President Steve Haas does a great job of relating the story of the first trip to Malawi. This is where it all started for Y-Malawi!
Will Starve for Food…
on March 12, 2012
Ryan Romberg is the Jr. High Pastor at Y-Malawi partner church, San Clemente Presbyterian Church. He has a strong passion to make sure that his students are being exposed to the needs of those around the world. That is why he is such a fervent advocate for the 30 Hour Famine. 30 Hour Famine is a World Vision sponsored youth event where students go without food for 30 hours in an attempt to raise money for those that are fighting hunger on a daily basis around the world. Ryan has hosted this event several times and truly believes it has the power to impact students and resonate throughout their lives. In this video, hear from students who will be participating in the famine and from Ryan about what they are seeking to accomplish! If you would like to support Ryan and his students in the Famine, contact him at Ryan(at)scpres(dot)org.
The Young and the Restless…

Camden’s Well from Hanju Lee on Vimeo.
Camden Rhee is 12 years old. After an experience during Lent 2 years ago, in which he gave up all beverages outside of milk and water, he found a deep conviction for those in the world that had no access to clean water. After researching it more, he felt a burning desire to take action and do something. At 12, he’s living out the Gospel in a real way. This is his story…What’s holding you back?
Because of Y-Malawi in the Last 7 Years
on February 8, 2012
For the past 7 years, Y-Malawi has been committed to seeing spiritual and tangible change come to the Malawian communities of Nkhoma and Chilenje. This has only been possible through partnerships with churches across America, as well as partners on the ground in Malawi. At the beginning of 2012, we decided it was time to celebrate! Celebrate lives changed, souls saved for eternity, and hearts forever impacted, both in Malawi and here in the U.S.
Dear friend and diligent supporter of Y-Malawi, Sandy Sizemore, created this touching video to recap all that has been accomplished over the years. First shown at our Reunion Celebration in January to bring back memories for all those who had been on a trip to the Warm Heart of Africa, we now want to share it with whoever will take a minute to watch, because God is truly moving and we need all the support we can get to continue the work He has called us all to; to “Go and make disciples of all nations.” Enjoy!
Give as Jesus Gave, Worship Fully

The Advent Conspiracy video, made in 2009, was powerful then and is just as powerful now. Please watch and continue reading below!
We have grown accustomed to feelings of concern and frustration due to the current state of our economy, and in no way do we want to minimalize those feelings because our nation is definitely struggling. However, despite our down economy the projected spending on Christmas this year is $500 billion! That’s up from the numbers in this video!
The needs are great all around the world. Living in such a privileged country, it is easy to forget the way of life for the majority of people living on earth, in just about every continent. Lack of clean water means the difference between life and death for men, women and children alike. There are millions of people going hungry today and every day. So many do not have the basic necessity of a roof over their head. We want to challenge the way you choose to spend and give this holiday season. Give relationally. Give love. Give life. To your friends and family, and to our brothers and sisters around the world who are in great need. Will you accept the challenge?
Racers in Malawi!
on November 2, 2011
If you are fans of CBS’s The Amazing Race and you are fans of Malawi, then at this particular time in history you are ecstatic because the racers have traveled to the warm heart of Africa! If you have actually been with us to Malawi, you can find excitement in recognizing Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe, the oh-so-familiar red dirt, and the distinctly friendly faces of the Malawians. Also, as can be expected, the racers were certainly impacted by the incredible Malawian people–by their simplicity of life and the joy that they have. Even in this short clip, you can see the way the racers are touched as they make toys for the kids out of Culligan boxes and bottle caps. The racers kick around a soccer ball with the kids because, well, they draw you in and it’s just impossible not to…
There Is No One Like Jesus
on September 12, 2011
During our two week journey through Malawi, there was rarely a bus ride where we weren’t singing. Members of the Nkhoma Youth Department taught us a few songs, but this one, “There is No One Like Jesus” was definitely our favorite. On their last day with us, as Ethell and I were singing on the bus together I told her how I wished my parents and everyone at home could hear us singing together. She looked at me with the most genuine smile and said that would make her very happy. So later that day we recorded a few songs at the guest house where we had been staying while in the Nkhoma area, and we had a blast! I feel so blessed to have been given the opportunity to sing with her, in her language, for our God.

There’s no one, there’s no one like Jesus
There’s no one, there’s no one like Jesus
There’s no one, there’s no one like Jesus
There’s no one, there’s no one like Him
I walk, I walk here, there.
I turn around here, there.
I’m searching, searching here, there.
There’s no one, there’s no like him.
There’s no one, there’s no one like Jesus
There’s no one, there’s no one like Jesus
There’s no one, there’s no one like Jesus
This is Church

What would the world look like if Church was truly what Christ hoped it would be? May we as followers of Jesus Christ take his Great Commission and own it, apply it, and obey it unto the Glory of God and His Kingdom.
Senior Chief of Chilenje Valley says “Come!”
on August 12, 2011
Members of the US Team were greatly surprised and enthused when on July 8th at the Y-Malawi demonstration in the Chilenje Valley, the Senior Chief of the Chilenje Region was in attendance! Better known as the Traditional Authority (T.A.), Senior Chief Masingala is comparable to a senator here in the states–overseeing all the local chiefs in the region and representing the region in governmental affairs. Though, it was not her title that really got the team pumped up, it was what she said! With great sincerity, she announced, in front of the entire crowd gathered in that Malawian football field, how extremely grateful she was to the US teams coming to Chilenje, how helpful the work has been, and that she urges MORE to come! Whether the response was a smile or a solemn understanding, all the team members caught an incredible glimmer of the impact that Y-Malawi churches are having on this beautiful community.
The call is out there…how will we respond? Perhaps it is your turn to GO! The game is completely different when the “Coach” puts you in. Is He calling your number? “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask to the Lord of the harvest to send out more workers. Go! I am sending you…” (Luke 10:2-3)
